Your Acting Coach
Sharrell D. Luckett, PhD
For Actors
During our coaching sessions, you'll be able to:
-
Hone in: You’ll be working with a coach who has in-depth knowledge about Afrocentric techniques and Eurocentric techniques. Every technique is not for everybody. We’ll focus on the techniques that work for you.
-
Build Characters: Whether you are auditioning for a role or already cast, you’ll learn fast, effective ways to build characters and analyze scripts for the stage, television, and film.
- Exhale: It can be a challenge to find an acting coach who understands what you’re going through in your artistic process. This an opportunity to not only hone your acting skills, but to sharpen your navigation skills in an often-marginalizing industry.
-
Explore: Together, we’ll figure out which dimensions of The Luckett Paradigm are right for your immediate goals. The dimensions include Orientation, Devising, Resuscitation, and Core Creation. Learn more about The Luckett Paradigm here.
-
Gain resources: In The Luckett Paradigm, reading and conversation is understood to be a critical part of the craft of acting. You’ll walk away with literary resources to help you become a more well-rounded actor and life-long learner of the craft.
For Educators
During our coaching sessions, you'll be able to:
-
Gain clarity: Black Acting Methods is everywhere, but you still don’t know exactly how to utilize the book in your classroom and studio settings. Here’s the thing: every group of students is different. Together, we can strategize about the most effective ways to teach the material to your specific population.
-
Ask away: Maybe you still don’t understand a concept as it relates to Afrocentricity or equity, diversity, and inclusion. Or, maybe you’ve been afraid to ask a burning question in public. During our session, you’ll have the space and privacy to ask those tough, important questions.
-
Share: You'll be able to have a sounding board for new, inclusive exercises or re-mixed tools that you are hoping to implement in your classrooms and rehearsal spaces.
- Hone in on resources: Whether you are working on a research project or looking for performance material for your students, we'll work together to identify texts, articles, video clips, memes, etc. that might support your research ideas or performance goals.

Kelly Jenrette, Emmy nominated actress & Amara on "All American: Homecoming"
“
Sharrell took me under her wing and pulled out a trailblazer. Not only does she have "the gift," but she is a "gift!" If you want to work with someone that is just as invested in your career/passions as you are, she's the one. I'm forever grateful."
Cortez West, Producer & Director, NAACP Image Award Nominee, Bravo, HBO, VH1, NBC
“
With a personal, humane emphasis on identity & knowledge of self, Sharrell's approach to acting fills a major gap in American technique. The Luckett Paradigm should be as automatic an entry to acting as any Stanislavski based method.

Sharrell's training early on in my career has carried over into my work as a TV Host & Personality. Her immense knowledge and tools transformed me from a shy actor into a seasoned performer.
